Warm Springs Creek – Phase 3

Warm Springs Creek – Phase 3

The Warm Springs Creek project has been an amazing site for youth and student groups to participate in real ecological restoration and get their hands dirty. In partnership with the Ted Trueblood Chapter of Trout Unlimited, we have hosted volunteer groups from several schools and youth groups over the school year and summer as well as adult volunteer events.

During the spring and early summer while there was water in the channel, volunteers planted native plants and worked to “grub-out” the sediment wall plugging the downstream flow of the site.

Now that the banks are stable and the gradient is as steep as possible it is time for the next phase of the project – substrate!

Phase 3 Complete! Its looking amazing.

This Warm Springs Creek site has gone from a sedimented swale full of weeds and invasive plants to a functioning stream and riparian wetland. To see the humble beginnings of this project check out my other two blog posts “Warm Springs Creek and Warm Springs Creek- Phase 2
